Eight Provinces May Face Floods

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has announced that from 15-19 August 2022, Cambodia will see rainfall nationwide, which will cause some areas of the country already experiencing rain to be flooded.

Those provinces include Kampong Thom, Preah Vihear, Ratanakkiri, Stung Treng, Kratie, Tbong Khmum, Kampong Cham and Oddar Meanchey.

The Ministry has said this weather situation was caused by the low-pressure valley from India moving down with a protracted low-pressure system (ITCZ) in northern Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, coupled with low pressure in the South China Sea and the region, to cause moderate southwest monsoon in Cambodia.
